happy 3rd birthday!

dear kate,
today is your 3rd birthday!!!
you really are a big girl now!  and i am so happy that i could fly out to alberta to celebrate with you and mommy and all your friends here in cold lake!
for a special treat - we went swimming today!  you loved every minute of it and we had so much fun!
what made it especially fun was the water slide!
up - down - up - down - up - down . . .
you kept me busy!
and do you know what?  today was the very first time i ever went on a water slide!
how special for me to do that with you!

happy 3rd birthday!

dear kate,
today is your 3rd birthday and i am so happy that i am here to celebrate it with you!
we got up this morning and opened some presents and then i brought out the lucky charms!!!  yes!  nammy always has lucky charms for you when i see you!  it's the breakfast of champions!!  lol!  

then, later on we went swimming in the pool at the base!  we went on the little water slide there too!  and you know what?  it was the very first time that i have ever been on a water slide!  i'm so happy that you were the one to bring me the first time!  it was a lot of fun going down together!  we had so much fun swimming in the pool too!

on our way back to get mommy, we stopped at the mall and you went on every little ride they had!

you especially liked the ice cream bus!

what a fun day we had together!  and the fun is not over yet . . . no sir!!
mommy has a big, wonderful birthday party planned for you!!!
it's going to be on saturday!!!
she is getting you a big cake, and balloons, and junk food -- and all of yours and mommy's friends are coming to the centennial centre to celebrate!!
i'll be there too!  i can't wait for the party!!

yahoo! i'm here at your house!!

dear kate,
yahoo!!  finally!  i'm here to visit with you in cold lake!
i'm here especially for your 3rd birthday!
tomorrow is april 1st . . . and you know what that means!!!  it's your birthday - and you will be three years old!!  already!!!
every single time i see you i notice what a big girl you are getting to be!  every single time we have more and more fun together with mommy!  
when i got to cold lake, i was surprised to see that you still have snow!  we have no snow left at nammy's house in ontario!  the grass is starting to get green everywhere!  but, here, you have snow.
so, guess what we did today?
we made a snowman in your front yard!  yes we did!
we rolled up three big balls of snow.  the biggest one went on the bottom.  then a medium one went on top of it.  at last, we made a smaller ball and lifted it together onto the very top!!  that was for the head.
we put a carrot for a nose and some pine cones for eyes!  we used some branches from the trees to make arms.
finally, after all the hard work, it was done!  
but . . . guess what happened??
by accident, you leaned on mr. snowman, and he toppled over!  oh! oh!
that's okay . . . we just fixed him up in no time . . . and he was as handsome as ever!
in fact, he was so handsome that we decided to name him . . .

horses!

dear kate,
i just had to tell you the news!  our neighbour that lives down the road has horses now!  there are so many of them - all different colours!  and there are lots of baby horses too!  when you come to visit in the summer, we can go and see them together!

nammy has a friend from church who has a teeny, tiny pony!  my friend's name is melissa, and she told me that when you come in the summertime, i can bring you to her house and you can ride her pony!!!!  can you believe that!!!  it is going to be so much fun!!  and i will take some photos of you!

what fun we are going to have in july!!

skiing . . .

dear kate,
today i went skiing with uncle donny!  nammy used to ski all the time, but i haven't done it in sooooo long!  i was a little nervous at first, but i just loved it!  uncle donny and i had so much fun.  he was snowboarding and i was skiing.
