hippie day

dear kate,
today is hippie day at value village!
value village is a second-hand store near my house - and i love shopping there!  
when i shop there, i always say . . ."you never know what you need until you find it!"
they have really neat stuff - and really great prices!
we will go there when you come in the summer and nammy will give you some money to buy something, okay?  you will love it!
and guess who works there?  kelly!!
she loves it!  it is such a fun place to work and they do all kinds of crazy things!
today was hippie day!  all of the people who work there had to dress up like hippies!  so, i helped kelly get a costume ready (just like hallowe'en) and this is what she looked like . . .

isn't she funny!!  i laughed and laughed!
she really had a great time at work today!

guess what?

dear kate,
guess what?
auntie beka is getting her own apartment!  that means that she will be moving away from our house here in russell, and moving into her own house!  it will be a little house - but a really beautiful one!
she won't be too far from us and we can drive over and visit her while you're here!  it will only take about 40 minutes to get there.  
she is going to be living in quebec.  they speak french there, and auntie beka is learning french too!  she has a really good new job in quebec and she will be living close to her work.  she can even walk to work if she wants to!
and, you know what else?  
auntie beka has a pink couch!!!  your favourite colour!!  i think it's her favourite colour too!
that means that when you come in the summer, mommy will be able to sleep in auntie beka's old room!  by then, auntie beka won't be living here.  we'll have to go see her at her house!  oh, i know she'll come and see us while you're here though!  she is going to want to go to the water park with us and fly down the water slides with you!
i'm happy for her - but i will miss her at home!  
i'll be even happier when you come though!  when you and mommy get here, we'll have 2 more girls in the house!!  yea!!!

dear kate,
i am so happy to be visiting you at your home in cold lake!
what a beautiful home you and mommy have!
you are so blessed to have such an amazing mommy.  you really are.
she loves you with all her heart - and you love her too!
and it really shows!
your face lights up when you see her come home from work and you're full of hugs and kisses for mommy!
we are having so much fun together this week!
every day is filled with laughing, playing, and lots of hugs & kisses!
in the morning, i hear you wake up and go into mommy's room and ask her, "where's nammy?"
then, you come running to see me and wake me up!
how special it is to open my eyes and see your sweet smile first thing every morning!

baking day . . .

dear kate,
today we baked!  we made cupcakes - tons of them!  we sprinkled them with red and white candies and put heart flags on top of each one!  after that, we made a small cake and decorated it with mickey mouse gum drops!  
mmmmmmm . . . don't they look yummy!
then, guess what we did?
we jumped into the car and brought the cupcakes to mommy's office for a surprise!  you took the tray around to every office and gave all of mommy's friends a cupcake - made by you!!
i have a secret today!  you are the sweetest sugar plummy cupcake i know!!!

a monday at your house . . .

dear kate,
it's monday today . . . but it's no ordinary monday!  this is a super-duper-special monday!
you know why?
because i am spending this monday playing with you!
we had all kinds of fun today . . . and this is what we did . . .

first, we played dress-up!  you brushed my hair and made me all pretty.  and i put a pretty flower in your hair.  you got dressed up like a bunny and hopped all around too!
then . . . we coloured and did some crafts!

it's birthday party time!

dear kate,
today is your special birthday party!!!  and you're 3 years old now!!
mommy planned everything to make it so special for you!
first, she ordered a special cake.  it was a tinkerbell cake -- but mommy asked them to add buzz lightyear because she knew how much you loved him!   so it was a very special cake!!!

mommy rented the centennial centre and invited all of your friends - and some of her friends too!  and, of course, i was there!!
it was so much fun because we all played in the play place together!  after that we had yummy food - and then came the birthday cake!  we lit the candles and everyone sang,
"happy birthday to kate!!"  then, you blew out the three candles!  yea!!!!
after that, we opened all of the presents!  and - boy! - you had so many of them!  you were very polite and said thank you to everyone who was there!  i was so proud of your good manners!  you make nammy so happy!

gymnastics . . .

dear kate,
i decided that for your 3rd birthday i was going to enrol you into gymnastics lessons!
so i did.
you are going to be taking lessons every week at lakeland gymnastics club in cold lake! 
i was so happy to go with you when i came for my visit!  i brought you a gymnastic suit to wear too!
i knew that you would love going to gymnastics - but i never dreamed you would be so amazingly good at it!  you have so much energy and you love to climb and jump!
i took lots of photos while i was watching you.  i love the first picture here!  you look so cute!

you were not afraid to try anything - even if you had to climb up high, high, high!  some of the other kids were afraid . . . but not you!!
i hope that i can give you gymnastics lessons every year!  
did you know that nammy did gymnastics too?  yes, i did.
the balance beam and floor exercises were my favourites!  especially the balance beam!
one time, i was in a big gymnastics competition in ottawa/hull that was even on t.v.
and guess what?
i won first place on the balance beam!!  that was fun!
when i was in my early 20's i taught gymnastics to little girls your age - and a little older.  i really love gymnastics and i think that it is such a good sport for you!
i hope you love it as much as i did!  and, for sure, i already know you will be better than i ever was!!
