we had our usual skype visit this evening . . . and what pure joy it is to chat with you and see your face!

you are talking more than ever now - and you understand pretty much everything.

i can't wait until you are just a little older and we can have a real "conversation!"

baby racoons . . .

dear kate,

guess what happened today at our house?

grampy came home with three baby racoons! they did not have a mommy to look after them. they were so cute! we named them zorro, bonnie & clyde!

we decided that they would be a perfect gift for aimee, julia & sarah to have!!

so we drove over there and brought zorro, bonnie & clyde to their new home. everyone loved them so much! granty tamara gave them a bath in her sink and then clipped their nails! after that, we fed them all with a tiny baby bottle. they gobbled up the milk and then went to sleep! when you come in the summer, you will be able to see them too!

mother's day . . .

dear kate

today is mother's day. you are too young to understand that now,

so i'm going to tell you about your mommy and about why she is a mommy

to be treasured and loved.

your mommy has a fierce love for you and wants only what is best for you in your life.

she takes such good care of you and always wants to do the right thing.

she is careful to get healthy food so that she can make you nutritious meals and snacks.

she bathes you and makes sure you brush your teeth (even though that can be a battle sometimes!)

she washes your hair and combs it and puts it into cute pony tales and things.

she has beautiful clothes for you to wear and she takes good care of them.

she makes sure you are dressed up cute every day with everything clean and matching!

she watches over your health and if you ever get sick, she takes special care of you.

she makes sure you go to all the proper doctor's appointments

and makes sure that you get all of your immunizations at the right time.

she plays with you.

she dances with you.

she sings with you.

she teaches you letters and numbers.

she remembers to talk with you about all of your family in ontario (who love you very much).

she takes tons and tons of photos of you.

she takes you to the park and slides with you.

she takes you to the pool and swims with you.

she takes you to play-dates with friends.

she takes you on walks almost every day.

she shops with you.

she brings you to church with her.

she watches cartoons with you.

she bakes cookies and muffins and other yummy things with you.

she brings you on airplanes with her so that you can come to ontario to see me.

she cuddles with you.

she kisses and hugs you every single day.

she loves you more than anything in the world!

and i know she prays for you (just like i do).

she is such a wonderful mommy to you, kate.

you are blessed.

so this mother's day . . . even though you are too young to celebrate mommy

i know that you love her, and adore her

and i know that your relationship with her will grow stronger every single year.

and she will be your best friend.

so nammy will send hugs and kisses to mommy for you!

boston pizza . . .

dear kate,

it's your 2nd birthday,

and you had supper at boston pizza!

you sat at the table and didn't even have to use a high chair!

you drank from a big cup with a straw

and at the end of your meal

everyone in the whole restaurant sang

happy birthday to you!

but best of all for you . . .

you had your birthday supper with mommy and with daddy

together ... celebrating you!

when you get older you will understand even more

how much you are loved

and how this birthday dinner showed that.

you are our joy . . .

and you are nammy's treasure!

i love you so much

and i love your mommy so much.

she is a very special person in so many ways!

tomorrow's your 2nd birthday ... yea!!!

dear kate,

i can hardly believe that you will be turning 2 years old already!

you are so precious to me

and to all of your family here in ontario.

even though we live far apart, you are in my

thoughts

and my prayers

every single day.

i love our chats on skype,

even though you can't actually carry on a "real" conversation yet.

i love just seeing you.

i love it when you go to your little kitchen

to get "nammy" some tea - or toast

and then "feed" it to me over the web-cam.

i love it when you sing to me - or dance.

i love it when you show me your toys.

so ... even though we don't live near each other

we are still close.

and i always look forward to our visits.

it looks like i may book your's and mommy's flight today -

for your summer visit in july!

that's so exciting!

and it really gives us all something to look forward to!

in the meantime, we'll just keep talking on the phone

and visiting on skype!

i love you so much and can't wait to hug and kiss you again in real life!

dear kate,

i was thinking of you today

and i was so happy to have "visits" with you

pretty much every day.

it makes me so happy to be able to see you

and hear you chatter away!

and i thought about how blessed we are to

have skype!

so . . .

in honour of all of this, i wrote a poem for you.

calling with a view

i can talk and see your face

and you can see me too!

it’s the next best thing

when i cant be beside you there

at least I “see” you sing

we can chat and we can play

we can visit all the day

you see me and I see you

thanks to skype, we have a view

~

so when I’m feeling far away

when the day seems dark and grey

nammy knows just what to do

just skype a call and visit you!
