skiing . . .

dear kate,
today i went skiing with uncle donny!  nammy used to ski all the time, but i haven't done it in sooooo long!  i was a little nervous at first, but i just loved it!  uncle donny and i had so much fun.  he was snowboarding and i was skiing.

when you get a little bit older, we will take you skiing sometime when you come in the winter!  you will love it!

missing you . . .

dear kate,
i woke up this morning thinking about you
and missing you so much!
we've had a few short chats on the phone since you left on jan. 3rd
and i love that . . .
it's so nice to be able to have a real "conversation" with you now!
you are growing up so fast - and growing into such a special little girl!

quadding . . .

dear kate,
today we went for a little ride on our quad!  we couldn't go too fast because frappy still has the plough blade on the front!
we could have gone on the skidoo, but there wasn't really enough snow!  maybe next time you come in the winter, we'll be able to skidoo!
it was fun though - and you looked so cute with your purple helmet on!!

shopping . . .

dear kate,
this is the week right after christmas - and you know what that means!
shopping!
all of the sales are on at the stores, so mommy and i decided to go shopping and take you along!
you love that - because that means that you can go on the rides at the mall!
you went on a little white and pink cat - and you went up-up-up in a big green helicopter!
what fun that was!!

you really love the mall!!
we shopped till we dropped!  and rode rides till we were broke!!
and you were so tired on the way home that you fell fast asleep in your car seat!

it was another fun day in ontario!

boxing day . . .

dear kate,
today is boxing day!  that is the day after christmas ... december 26th!
today we went to upper canada village with your friend, gabe!  his mommy and daddy came with us too - and so did uncle donny!
we went skating and we walked around the village looking at all the beautiful christmas lights!  we also went on a horse and buggy ride with sleigh bells jingling!  

then, at the end, we went on a choo-choo train all the way around the village.  it was nice - but it was too cold for you.  you were crying by that time and my heart was breaking because i knew you were cold!  if i could have, i would have made that train conductor stop - but i couldn't!  it was so hard for me to know that you were cold and crying!  i tried to wrap you up in my arms with my coat and scarf around you, but you were still cold.
finally, the train stopped and we got into the warm car and headed home!
it was a fun time there - except that it was too cold!  
next time we do that - we'll make sure it's not that cold!!!

it's christmas day!

we got up early in the morning and all of the family was here!  there was

we knew santa had been here because there were so many presents under the tree!

we opened all of our presents and everyone said thank you and gave out big hugs!

then we had breakfast together!

later on uncle marcel and auntie tamara came over with aimee, julia, nicholas and sarah and we all had christmas dinner together.  great-granny lucienne and uncle andre were there too - with maurice!  we had a real feast - turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, yams, green beans, corn, salads, buns & butter and really yummy gravy! it was so good and you ate it all up!
you had a really great christmas here and loved playing with your new toys!
but, you know what else is great about christmas?
the real reason christmas is so special is because it is jesus' birthday!  a long, long time ago jesus was born in a manger in bethlehem!  and we still celebrate his birth every year at christmas time!
